Damp and timber problems in Newtownabbey
Newtownabbey is largely post-war and later housing — cavity walls, concrete floors, and damp proof courses that were installed correctly when built.
When damp appears here it is usually a bridged cavity, a failed DPC at a later extension, or condensation from sealed-up ventilation after new windows went in. Genuine rising damp is less common than in Belfast's older terraces.
That matters commercially: you should not be sold a full chemical DPC for a problem that is a blocked airbrick.
What we see most here
- Bridged cavities and DPC failures at extensions
- Condensation after window replacement
- Wet rot in joinery
“I recently bought a new house that had woodworm in the roof space. I contacted Radication and they were extremely helpful and sent a surveyor out within a few days to advise me on the best way to deal with the problem. They gave me a quotation which was very reasonable, and I got the work done. The technicians they sent were extremely neat and tidy and I was very satisfied with the work. I would have no problems recommending them.”
