A Trusted Wall Tanking Treatment Service Across Northern Ireland

Where walls are below ground or subject to constant moisture pressure, a damp proof course alone will not hold water back. Tanking creates a continuous waterproof barrier across the wall and floor surfaces.

We tank basements, cellars and ground floor walls in homes and business premises right across Northern Ireland.

What is our wall tanking system?

Wall tanking is a slurry-applied chemical treatment used for controlling dampness and the penetration of moisture. It combines inorganic chemicals, finely graded quartz sands and cement.

Our certified operators apply the sealant to wall and adjoining floor surface using high pressure spraying equipment, targeting moisture ingress at every point it could get through.

For the coating to bond, the area must be completely free from dust, dirt, loose material, plaster, bitumen, oil and paint — so preparation is a significant part of the job.

The tanking treatment method

Uneven surfaces are first levelled and repointed with a specialised cement and sand mixture. A light screed or scratch coat levels the surface and needs a minimum of 24 hours to cure before tanking is applied.

The Radication W.P Salt Inhibitor to be used in above preparation works.

The tanking material stays soft for around 24 hours, so the treated area must not be touched during that time. A second coat can be applied once the first has hardened.

Surfaces may be rendered after 48 hours, and the tanking becomes fully effective within eight days. We recommend replastering using Radication W.P Salt Inhibitor to our specification.
