Wall Tanking is a slurry applied chemical treatment used for controlling dampness and penetration of moisture. It is a sealant composed of inorganic chemicals, finely graded quartz sands and cement. Our certified operators at Radication Ltd use the most recent high-pressure spraying equipment to apply it to the wall and floor surfaces to seal and tank against any moisture ingress in your home or business in Northern Ireland. Any of the areas treated in your building should be completely free from dust, dirt, loose material, plaster, bitumen, oil, paint, etc.
What is Wall Tanking?
Tanking Treatment Method
Uneven surfaces should be levelled and as necessary re-pointed, with a special cement/sand mixture, which will be specified by our professionals. This light screed or scratch coat will level up the wall surface and should be allowed to cure for at least 24 hours before the tanking mix is applied.
The wall tanking material will remain soft for about 24 hours, so you will need to avoid contact during this time. If necessary, a second coat can be applied once the first one has hardened. Treated surfaces may be rendered after 48 hours and will be fully effective in your property within eight days. It is recommended that your plastering contractor re-plasters the walls using a salt inhibitor as per our re-plastering specifications issued with every contract. Radication Ltd can also provide fixing instructions if you require them.
