Damp and timber problems in Belfast
Belfast's housing stock is dominated by late Victorian and Edwardian red-brick terraces — solid nine-inch walls, often with no damp proof course at all, or one that was installed a century ago and has long since failed.
Because those walls have no cavity, there is nothing to stop ground moisture wicking straight up through the brick. Add a raised pavement or a modern concrete path bridging the original DPC level, and rising damp becomes almost inevitable.
We are based in Dunmurry, so most of Belfast is a fifteen-minute drive for our surveyors.
What we see most here
- Rising damp in solid-wall terraces
- Woodworm in roof spaces and under suspended floors
- Dry rot in cellars and beneath stairs
“I recently bought a new house that had woodworm in the roof space. I contacted Radication and they were extremely helpful and sent a surveyor out within a few days to advise me on the best way to deal with the problem. They gave me a quotation which was very reasonable, and I got the work done. The technicians they sent were extremely neat and tidy and I was very satisfied with the work. I would have no problems recommending them.”
